Diver Focus - Rachel
In October 2010, Rachel was a bit slow signing-up.
She'd missed the Sports' Fair and the club was
looking
a bit busy, but she was enthusiastic and
convinced that she'd catch up what was missed.
So we managed to squeeze her in and did the odd
catchup lecture. With some hard work, by
Christmas Rachel was an Ocean Diver and
straight after it was onto Sport Diver which she
gained in March 2011.
Since then she's been doing some serious workup
dives upto her maximum of 35m off the South's
hardboats and fast becoming a very accomplished
diver.
A year on and she's looking at twinning up to stay
down longer and even thinking about going for
Assistant Instructor.
Proof
yet again that if you put the work in, then it's
all achievable - well done Rachel. |

Instructor Focus - Mike
It's been a long journey for MIke, well 4 years to be
exact. Three years at Uni saw him go from basic novice through to an
accomplished Dive Leader, becoming the clubs Chair along the way. He
put loads back though
by becoming a very solid Assistant Instructor and in year 4 now an alumni,
made that final step of going for his Instructor Exams, gaining BSAC
Open Water Instructor.
Unlike many new Instructors MIke has had nearly
two years of comprehensive mentoring by the club's experienced Instructor
Trainers.
This
has enabled him to hit the ground running and
is now a full member of the SUCS Instructor team, which is only partially
good news as we now have to find another assistant to fill his shoes!!!! |
