Welcome to the Club 2010-2011

Club Diary 2010

Hi and welcome to SUCS, the Sub-Aqua Club of Southampton Solent University and one of the most active dive clubs on the South Coast

Interested in learning to dive? or are you already a diver? then come say hello on

Thursday 23rd September

The Sports Hall - from 10-3pm.

You cant miss us, we'll be on this stand :)

If you want some details before then, drop us a line at dive@bsac1624.co.uk

SUCS works hard for the students of Solent, with an enviable record of providing high quality scuba tuition from entry level, right through to technical and Instructor levels.

Our aim is to get you to the Internationally recognised grade of Sports Diver within 6 months. That might seem a tall order, but SUCS regularly achieves this each year.

Of course that doesnt mean you can't go even further. Three of the October 2009 intake are already Assistant Instructors, with others not far behind.

We could fill a website with details about how SUCS works, but to be honest its always best to talk to those who have been there and done it. Come along to any of the dates in September and October (especially freshers) or simply drop us a line.

See the club, chat with our best ambassadors, the members themselves and make up your own mind.

What's included

SUCS charges a single membership fee and then almost everything else is free and that includes tutuition in as many grades as you like, insurance, pool sessions and most importantly access to full dive kit (even drysuits), yes SUCS provides ALL kit absolutely free as part of membership.

We want you to go diving and you wont do that if you are spending dosh on dive kit.

Once trained you can join in on a whole range of diver trips which run over the whole year.

SUCS doesnt stop in the summer, it keeps going ALL year, so you can get the best of the UK, but still escape the winter by going on one of our overseas trips.

Come along & say hello!

MAIN SIGN-UP Night

By now we will have most of the previous year signed-up and a large number of new friends eager to dive. As we have a lot to do, pool time is sacred, so we need to get the paperwork out of the way. This is pretty much the last chance to sign-up as next week courses start in earnest.

No pool tonight as it's time to get down the clubs and celebrate that you've joined SUCS

It's not just about the diving

Diving is a very socialble sport, not surprising really when every trip has that element. Having a fresh caught seafood barbie, with a beer after a days diving, now thats pretty good, but its nice to dress up a bit as well.

Hence the social side ranges from semi-formal affairs like the Christmas meal and Sports Awards, to some pretty wild nights, which inevitably end up clubbing into the early hours.

For those that prefer a more sedate night, the club also has the odd pub & pizza night, or does curry efforts as well. Loads of variety and lots of parties, so there really is something for all.
